An inspiring section of the Jordan Trail, named as one of the 15 best hikes in the world, starting at high mountain plateaus down to Araba Valley and climbs up again, crossing diverse ecosystems hidden in canyons, several climate zones, and presenting new landscapes every few kilometers. The route ends with one of the world’s seven wonders, Petra. Taking us through just what was meant to be seen in Petra for one day.
We will drive from Amman To Dana biosphere Reserve, Getting ready for our upcoming Adventure.
We will sleep a night before in Dana Village. After breakfast, we will start the day trekking from Dana Nature Reserve - one of Jordan's loveliest Reserve and wilderness areas - to Malaga Canyon through Feynan canyon. This spectacular downhill trek winds through the sandstone gorge of Wadi Dana. Along the way, you will likely encounter the local Bedouin herding their sheep and goats. Dinner and overnight at mobile camp in Malaga canyon.
In the morning after breakfast to reach the trail head of an ancient Bedouin migration path that ascends steeply across rocks and small boulders through a twisty track rising high into the mountain. This section can be challenging and takes around 3 hours. The route offers stunning views westwards towards the fascinating Wadi Araba desert. We eventually reach the top of a high saddle which has some of the most beautiful scenery of the trek before descending following a small goat track to the river valley of Wadi Feyd. Here we have a well-deserved opportunity to refresh and cool down in its cool water, a perfect place for lunch. We then continue our trek, walking upstream and maneuvering around a beautiful dense garden of oleander, willow, tamarisk and reed. Beyond this we walk along a dry river bed surrounded with colorful sandstone outcrops to reach our camping spot where our crew will be waiting for us with Bedouin tea and after a wash and rest, a Bedouin style evening meal, Dinner and overnight mobile camping.
After breakfast, we continue trekking between a nice oak trees and beautiful view of Petra mountains, until we reached Qbour wahdat and camp there.
With an early rise and breakfast, we continue trekking to little Petra, we will cross Nabatian dam will take a back trail to little Petra, finish our trail there.
Starting right at Little Petra entering Petra though “The Back Door”, following an ancient Nabatean route out of the valley and around the mountains, suddenly viewing “The Monastery”, following the Nabatean steps leading into ancient Petra right before reaching “The Treasury” and through the “Siq” to the visitor center and into Wadi Musa where you will spend a relaxing night in you hotels.
