Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Marrakech
Day 1: Arrival to Marrakech

  • Activity: Arrival in Marrakech and check-in at Ali Hotel. Explore the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square, known for its food stalls, musicians, and storytellers, or visit the serene Majorelle Garden.
  • Elevation: Marrakech (480 m / 1,575 ft).
  • Travel: No major travel today.

 

Day 2: Excursion to Imlil
Day 2: Excursion to Imlil

  • Travel: Drive from Marrakech to Imlil (67 km / 42 miles, 1.5 hours).
  • Elevation: Marrakech (480 m) to Imlil (1,740 m / 5,708 ft).
  • Activity: After arriving in Imlil, take a short acclimatization hike through the valley and surrounding villages. Enjoy the stunning views of the High Atlas Mountains.
  • Hike: Optional easy walk (4-6 km round trip, ~2 hours, elevation gain ~200 m).

Day 3: Tizi Tamatirt

  • Hike: Imlil to Tizi Tamatirt Pass and back (12 km / 7.5 miles round trip, ~6 hours).
  • Elevation: Imlil (1,740 m) to Tizi Tamatirt Pass (2,279 m / 7,477 ft), elevation gain ~540 m (1,770 ft).
  • Activity: A scenic trail leading to Tizi Tamatirt Pass offers panoramic views of surrounding peaks and valleys. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the pass before returning to Imlil.

Day 4: Imlil to Toubkal Refuge via Sidi Chamharouch

  • Hike: Imlil to Toubkal Refuge (10 km / 6.2 miles, ~6 hours).
  • Elevation: Imlil (1,740 m) to Toubkal Refuge (3,207 m / 10,522 ft), elevation gain ~1,467 m (4,813 ft).
  • Activity: Begin the ascent towards Toubkal Refuge, passing through Aroumd village and the sacred site of Sidi Chamharouch, a pilgrimage site for many Moroccans. Lunch stop at Sidi Chamharouch.

Day 5: Climb Mount Toubkal and Return to Imlil
Day 5: Climb Mount Toubkal and Return to Imlil

  • Hike: Toubkal Refuge to Mount Toubkal summit and back to Imlil (20 km / 12.4 miles round trip, ~10-12 hours).
  • Elevation: Refuge (3,207 m) to summit (4,167 m / 13,671 ft), elevation gain ~960 m (3,150 ft), followed by a descent of 2,427 m (7,965 ft) back to Imlil.
  • Activity: Start before dawn for the summit attempt. Witness breathtaking views of the Atlas range from the top before descending to Toubkal Refuge for a break. Continue back to Imlil for rest.

Day 6: Tizi Mizik Visit

  • Hike: Imlil to Tizi Mizik Pass and back (8 km / 5 miles round trip, ~5 hours).
  • Elevation: Imlil (1,740 m) to Tizi Mizik (2,489 m / 8,166 ft), elevation gain ~750 m (2,460 ft).
  • Activity: A relatively relaxed day of hiking to the Tizi Mizik Pass, offering stunning views of the Azzaden Valley. Return to Imlil for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Return to Marrakech

  • ravel: Drive from Imlil to Marrakech (67 km / 42 miles, ~1.5 hours).
  • Elevation: Imlil (1,740 m) to Marrakech (480 m), elevation loss ~1,260 m (4,134 ft).
  • Activity: Enjoy the scenic drive back to Marrakech. Depending on your flight schedule, explore more of the city’s sights or shop for souvenirs in the souks before heading to the airport.
